Can You Piggyback Off of Someone Else's Dream?

Now that I have graduated from college, I find that I’m not quite sure what my dream or dreams are anymore. When you’re a child all you do is dream, but eventually things become more and more real. Lately, however, I’ve been doing a lot of dreaming and don’t seem to be coming up with anything that sticks. I know that I wish to live an honest, good life filled with love and adventure; but what is my “dream”? I have no idea. This question got me thinking… what if I could just borrow some else’s dream for a while. Maybe I could even be better at it. It’s not like they have a copywrite for it or anything right? Why can’t we ride the same wave?

You might ask why I have to have a dream. Why can’t I just chill until something comes to me with a quick breeze on a warm summer day? Well, I can’t wait that long. Dreams are what inspire and drive people to be greater than what they are; or at least until you have a force in your life motivating you like a spouse or children. I’m sure that we would not be lost souls if we didn’t have dreams. Dreams just make everything more exciting and meaningful.

What’s your dream? I hope you don’t mind if I borrow it for a while :)

  1. DudleLuv, u're good, u're really good! I though since you have finally decided to write a post about dreams, you'd say smth about Inception and try to get on the wave of it's popularity, (like I did haha) but no. You're writing about different dreams. I don't know why you Americans have the same word for dreams that you see when you sleep and dreams as in Martin Luther's "I have a dream," oh wait, it's still ambiguous :)

  2. Dreams should come naturally. Never force yourself to think of one. Believe it or not your most desired dream has been instilled in you from childhood. Yes, dreams may change as you become a more educated adult, but most likely they have stemmed from the one you had during your youth. I was once told, always dream as a child would. Children see no limits to what can be achieved. It is only as adults we become too in touch with reality and we put limits on everything. Becoming a superstar or a famous writer is unrealistic to the average adult. But if it is so unrealistic then why do they exist? Answer: because the superstars and famous writers didn't let anyone tell them that it couldn't be done. With that said I don't think any dream is original. Whatever idea you have thought of has already crossed someone's mind in the history of the planet, and it has probably been accomplished in some way. So if someone else can do it, why can't you?
