Case 39 Through 100

Case 39 is a movie about a young social worker (Emily Jenkins played by Renee Zelleger) who bites off a little more than she can chew when she discovers that the sweet little girl (Lilith Sullivan played by Jodelle Ferland) she thought she was saving is actually a demon child... Literally. Zellweger did a fabulous job; and I am not just saying that because I love her. She is so cute with her thin body and round face. I can safely say that it was one of the best thrillers I have seen this year. I actually screamed in the movie theater. Embarrassing right? Anyway, I would recommend this movie if you don't mind facing your greatest fear.

Watching Case 39 got me thinking about social work; which got me thinking about underpaid professions. People like social workers and teachers do a great deal to improve the world that we live in, but they do not necessarily reap what they sow; so to speak (no pun intended). They literally change lives. So, why don't they get paid like it? This is usually because they are government funded, but I also like to think of it as natural selection. Consider this... If social workers were laughing all the way to the bank, then money hungry jerks like "The Situation" would be getting degrees in social work. Could you imagine how devastating this would be to society? Schools and non-profit organizations require unique people. Selfless people. Humble and loving people. People like that are not money hungry. They do what they do because they want to leave a positive impression on the people they touch. They want to bring change and understanding to their homes and the world. Is this fair? No. But the children must be educated, the poor helped, and the abused rescued.
